Blue Demons Earn First Shutout of Dual Season

DePaul collects all seven points in victory over Omaha
OMAHA, Neb. – DePaul women's tennis dominated Omaha, winning 7-0 at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center on Friday night.
The Blue Demons remain undefeated against the Mavericks and snapped a three-match skid overall. DePaul evened its record at 5-5, while Omaha fell to 3-6 a month into dual action.
The Scarlet and Blue quickly began doubles competition, courtesy of No. 2 doubles Eleanor Nobbs and Roberta Sechi, collecting a 6-2 win. On courts one and three, doubles contests eclipsed more than an hour to decide the doubles point. While No. 49-ranked doubles, Eva Goncharov and Hannah Smith were tied at 6 against the Mavericks' Paula Arcarons and Zoe Adkins in slot one, Eleanor Cochran and Sasha Stula registered a slim 7-6 (1) triumph on court three, clinching the doubles point. DePaul has secured the doubles point in all five of its victories this season.
In singles, Smith turned in a commanding performance on court one. The Silchester, England, product swiftly defeated Aracons 6-1, 6-2. Goncharov added another Blue Demon point after dominating in the second set. The Canadian narrowly won the first set, 7-5, but fired off six straight points, to take the contest 7-5, 6-0. Nobbs finished strong with a 6-2, 7-5 decision, clinching the match for DePaul. Sechi followed with a tight, 6-2, 7-6 (2) victory on court six marking her first singles win as a Blue Demon. Stula and freshman Isabella Gibson each advanced to a third-set tiebreaker, collecting points to close out the match.
