Rosemont, Ill. – DePaul (1-1) earned one win and one loss on the opening day of their 2025 season, defeating Detroit Mercy 1-0 in the afternoon, before narrowly falling to St. Thomas 5-6 in the evening's final game.
Pitchers Kelly Greene and Ava Gusel both made their first starts in a DePaul uniform on the day, while three more newcomers saw their first opportunities in the Blue Demon batting order, Zoe Levine, Maya Wondaal, and Madee Wilson.
"I am incredibly proud of our team's unwavering work ethic and the determination we showed by fighting until the very last pitch," said head coach Liz Bouck-Jagielski.
"Every single player contributed to our success, demonstrating commitment and resilience. This collective effort not only highlights our strength as a team but also sets the stage for a bright future filled with great achievements ahead. We're excited to keep pushing forward together."
