Blue Demons Defeat Beacons, Fall to Tommies

Kelly Greene posts complete game in win over Valparaiso
ROSEMONT, ILL. – DePaul (2-2) fell to St. Thomas 3-9 Saturday afternoon, before defeating Valparaiso 2-0 in their evening game.
Carly Alvers and Kelly Beaupre led the Blue Demons with three runs apiece across the two games, while pitcher Kelly Greene earned her second win of the year, and first complete game.
"The Blue Demons again came with grit and determination, showcasing the core values instilled within our team," said head coach Liz Bouck-Jagielski.
"They fought hard throughout the day, making crucial plays that kept the momentum in our favor to secure a victory. A standout performance came from Kelly Greene, who delivered a remarkable shutout, along with a clutch hit from Kelly Beaupre to bring home two runs. This collective effort not only secured the win but highlighted the team's relentless spirit and commitment to success."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One – DePaul 3, St. Thomas 9
The Tommies opened the scoring quickly with an RBI double from Kaitlyn Raymond, followed by a sacrifice fly from Ella Cook. They tacked on three more runs in the second frame, jumpstarted by an RBI double from Avery Wukawitz.
The Blue Demons came back within striking distance, as an RBI double from freshman Zoe Levine in the bottom of the second inning earned DePaul two runs.
A pair of singles from Alvers and Brooke Cwick and a walk for Kali Blount loaded the bases as Morgan Rogers came up to bat in the bottom of the third frame. A single from Rogers sent Alvers home to score DePaul's third run.
The Tommies scored three of their additional four runs in the fourth frame, and tacked on one more insurance run in the top of the seventh.
Game Two – DePaul 2, Valparaiso 0
Greene posted a strong showing in the circle, putting up three scoreless innings in rapid fashion to open the game.
The Blue Demons posted both runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, with Rogers laying down a bunt and reaching second. An RBI triple from Beaupre drove Rogers across the plate, and an RBI single from Bibianna Rodriguez brought Beaupre home to score.
Despite one last effort from the Beacons, Greene held them to zero and DePaul earned the 2-0 win.

The Blue Demons conclude the DePaul Dome Tournament on Sunday, facing Green Bay at 11:30am and Western Illinois at 2:00pm. Tickets to the remaining tournament games can be purchased here.
