CHICAGO – DePaul men's basketball has added its latest addition in a 7-2 center, Khaman Maker. Maker spent the 2023-24 season at St. John's after a solid prep career.
"Khaman is a big with terrific size, good feet and ability to catch the ball," said head coach Chris Holtmann. "He has a really high upside as he continues to get stronger. We think he has the potential to be a very good player as his skills grow. He is also a terrific person and student who we are excited to add to our program."
A native of South Sudan, Maker went to SFBA Trinity Prep in Nevada for high school where he was a top 25 player at the center position in the 2024 class. With Trinity Prep he was named Defensive Player of the Year in The Grind Sessions' Duel in the Desert and was a member of the All-Grind Session Team following the 2022-23 season.
Maker became well known for his defensive prowess at the 2023 Nike EYBL Peach Jam where he ranked second with 2.7 blocks per game while averaging 8.4 rebounds and 6.3 points. He scored double-digit rebounds and registered four or more blocks in three of his final four games at Peach Jam - including eight points, 12 rebounds and six blocks in 26 minutes of action in the Championship. During his prep career he also attended the National Baksetball Players Association (NBPA) Top 100 camp in 2023 where he shot 63.2 percent from the field.
