Fueled by Momentum, DePaul Sets Sights on BIG EAST Championships

Blue Demons head to UConn for BIG EAST Outdoors
STORRS, Ct. – In an outdoor season that's seen eight program records fall [and counting], DePaul track and field is ready to make a statement at the 2025 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, set for May 15-17 in Storrs, Conn., hosted by UConn.

Action begins at 2 p.m. CT on Thursday with the hammer throw, followed by the men's 10,000m race under the lights to close out day one. Friday's schedule opens at 12 p.m. CT with 1500m prelims and includes a full slate of hurdles, throws, and mid-distance events. Championship Saturday gets underway at 9 a.m. CT with field events, relay action in the afternoon, and a full lineup of finals through 3 p.m. CT. The awards ceremony is set for 3:15 p.m. CT.
DePaul closed its regular season with authority on May 2, winning eight events and breaking three school records at the Gary Wieneke Memorial Invitational. Jessica Beckman launched a program-best 52.97m to win the discus, Kash Allen reset her own shot put mark at 16.10m, and Tessa Roe clocked 10:16.34 in her 3000m steeplechase debut to set a new program record by over ten seconds.
The Blue Demons racked up 13 top-three finishes and more than a dozen personal bests. On the men's side, Demetrius Rolle won the 100m in 10.71, Charles Lewis claimed the 200m in 21.37, Darius Brown took the 400m hurdles in 52.26, and Alex Bernstein returned to form in the hammer with a winning throw of 66.51m. Jaiah Hopf earned the triple jump title at 12.81m, while Nadja Moll won the 400m in 56.50. Sonja Nagle, Nina Amicon, and Damian Rodriguez all finished second in their events, with Rodriguez posting a lifetime best of 3:45.19 in the 1500m.
Several Blue Demons enter the BIG EAST Championships ranked first in the conference, including Rolle (100m), Miller (100m), Brown (110m hurdles), Hopf (triple jump), Gary (shot put), and Bernstein (hammer). Both the men's and women's 4x100m relays also sit atop the BIG EAST performance list, with times of 40.09 and 45.96, respectively.
Brown and Bernstein currently hold national rankings in the top 35, with Brown tied for 29th in the 110m hurdles and Bernstein 31st in the hammer throw. Additional NCAA qualifying spots will come into focus as the weekend unfolds.
