Beckman, Hopf, Roe conclude season in College Station
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – DePaul track and field's Jessica Beckman, Jaiah Hopf, and Tessa Roe each closed out their season on Saturday night at E.B. Cushing Stadium, finishing strong to conclude a historic NCAA West Preliminary appearance for the Blue Demons on the campus of Texas A&M.
Senior thrower Jessica Beckman made her NCAA Prelims debut in the women's discus and closed the book on her DePaul career ranked among the top 45 in the West Region. A steady contributor throughout her time as a Blue Demon, Beckman's final appearance marked a strong finish to her collegiate journey in the ring.
Jaiah Hopf opened the triple jump in dominant fashion, taking the top spot after the first two flights. On her second attempt, the sophomore shattered her own program record with a leap of 13.26m. Despite being edged out of the top 12, Hopf finished 16th overall. She was just 0.16m short of the final qualifying mark, climbing 18 spots from her pre-meet rank of 34th. The performance marked her third NCAA Preliminary appearance in as many years, showing clear progression from 12.11m (42nd in 2022), to 12.65m (37th in 2023), to this year's record-setting leap.
Adding to her impressive freshman campaign, Tessa Roe placed 36th in the West Region in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:29.98. She finishes the year as the fifth-highest ranked freshman in the region in the event.
