Blue Demons welcome four signees to Lincoln Park
CHICAGO – DePaul men's tennis head coach Matt Brothers officially announced the addition of four newcomers to the 2025-26 Blue Demons roster. Graduate transfer Alejandro Gandini, sophomore transfer Sebastian Medica, and freshmen Augusto Pardo Cano and Bernardo Vialle are set to join the Blue Demons this fall.
Three-time BIG EAST Champion head coach, "The Architect" Matt Brothers, looks to strengthen his lineup with a mix of high-level international talent and proven collegiate experience.
"We're really excited about the signing class we have coming," said Head Coach Matt Brothers. "This group understands that there's no opponent on our schedule we can't compete with, and their presence puts another BIG EAST title firmly within our reach."
Gandini, a graduate transfer from Creighton, joins the Blue Demons as the reigning BIG EAST Player of the Year. A three-time All-BIG EAST selection, Gandini tallied 11 singles wins and 17 doubles victories during his senior season, leading the Bluejays to their first-ever runner-up finish at the BIG EAST Championships. His career includes over 90 combined collegiate victories, ITA National Rankings in doubles, and Davis Cup experience.
"Alejandro has competed at the highest levels, including Davis Cup play, and was recognized as the 2025 BIG EAST Player of the Year. With the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year already on our roster and now adding the league's Player of the Year, we feel we're in a special position. He's proven himself as a legitimate number one singles player and is arguably even better in doubles, which will elevate everyone's level in practice and give us a chance in every match we play."
Medica, a sophomore transfer from the University of Idaho, was named Big Sky Freshman of the Year in 2024 and earned All-Big Sky Second Team honors in both singles and doubles in 2025. He posted a 12-6 singles record and 11-6 doubles mark last season, highlighted by a 7-1 conference singles record. Medica reached a career-high ITF Junior ranking of No. 244, with multiple finals appearances and titles in Mexico and Central America.
"Sebastian is an incredibly energized and intelligent player, a former Freshman of the Year at Idaho who comes to us as a junior. He's strong in both singles and doubles and adds a ton of energy and excitement to the team."
Freshman Augusto Pardo Cano arrives from Buenos Aires, Argentina, after reaching a career-high ITF Junior ranking of No. 816. His accomplishments include singles finalist appearances in Spain, Morocco, and Puerto Rico, along with doubles championships in France and Spain.
"Augusto is a very mature, high-character guy who has been competing at a high level and gaining international experience for quite some time. He's a talented player, and this fall we'll be focused on helping him make a smooth transition into college tennis."
Freshman Bernardo Vialle, from Curitiba, Brazil, trained at IMG Academy and reached a career-high ITF Junior ranking of No. 1277. He won doubles championships in Paraguay and Brazil while also making semifinal runs in Uruguay.
"Bernardo brings maturity and great character to our program. Like Augusto, he has competed internationally at a high level and is well prepared for the demands of college tennis. We're excited to help him adjust quickly to our team and competition."
