Blue Demons to face Flames and Ramblers
CHICAGO – DePaul volleyball is set for the 2025 Chicago Cup, traveling to face UIC on Friday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. inside the Credit Union 1 Arena, and Loyola Chicago on Sunday, Sept. 21, with first serve slated for 1 p.m. from Gentile Arena. Both matches will stream on ESPN+.
DePaul is seeking its fifth-straight win after a gritty reverse sweep of Milwaukee on Wednesday evening. The Blue Demons saw a new career-high in nearly every major statistical category, including assists (Amanda Saeger, 56), digs (Eva Hurrle, 34), blocks (Jade Dudley-Epps, seven) and kills (Katelynn Oxley, 17).
Two victories in the Chicago Cup would mark six consecutive match wins for the Blue Demons, an achievement they last reached on November 20, 2021.

The Blue Demons return home to begin BIG EAST play, Sept.26-27. They will square off with the UConn Huskies on Friday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m., before tackling the Providence Friars on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. Tickets are available here and both matches will stream on ESPN+.

BLUE DEMON BITS
- Oxley and Dudley-Epps continue to be the most efficient hitters for the Blue Demon offense, hitting .315 and .336, respectively. Oxley has hit above .350 in her last quartet of matches, including a .394 clip against the Panthers.
- Dudley-Epps also leads the team in total blocks (38) and service aces (19)
- A young core has bolstered both sides of the ball for the Blue Demons, with freshmen Eva Hurrle, a recent BIG EAST Freshman of the Week selection, leading the team with 189 total digs and 5.00 digs per set, good for 14th in the nation
- Fellow freshman Morgan Stewart added her fifth double-double Wednesday night, earning 17 kills and 12 digs
- UIC sits at .500, dropping three matches at the North Florida Sunshine Tournament, before defeating Radford, Morehead State and Toledo at the Comfort Inn-vitational
- The Flames most recently enjoyed straight set victories over common opponents Central Arkansas and Chicago State, with freshman libero Ava Young collecting 22 digs on the weekend
- UIC was selected second in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) preseason poll, with outside hitter Cleo Lorenzo earning Preseason All-MVC recognition
- Lorenzo and fellow senior Beatrice Carulli are propelling the UIC offense, with 62 and 73 kills, respectively
- Loyola Chicago was selected third in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll, after a historic 2024 season that saw the program's first NCAA Tournament win and second Atlantic 10 title
- The Ramblers own a 3-6 record on the year, earning wins over Drake, Illinois State and Stephen F. Austin, all in five sets
- Libero Sam Falk leads the team in digs (163) and service aces (19), including a career-high 32 digs in the victory over Stephen F. Austin
- Freshman Karli Molnau took home A-10 Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 3.18 kills per set. She posted a .443 hitting percentage and recorded a career-high 13 kills twice
- DePaul has won the last two meetings with UIC, while the Flames have the all-time series edge, 28-21
- When the Blue Demons are on the road against the Flames, the series is tied at five matches apiece
- Despite falling to the Ramblers in 2024, DePaul owns six of the last ten meetings dating back to 2011, while Loyola Chicago holds the series advantage, 29-15
