Blue Demons look to continue early-season unbeaten streak
CHICAGO – DePaul women's soccer begins its two-game road slate on Sunday afternoon, facing the Lindenwood Lions in St. Charles, Mo. for the two programs' third overall matchup and first at Hunter Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT with the match live stream available on ESPN+.
DePaul Debrief
DePaul kicks off its first road trip riding a 2-1 home victory over Denver and Pioneers head coach and former Blue Demon soccer alum Julianne Sitch. For the second time in as many matches, the Blue Demons tallied two goals — this time converting the offense into a win after opening the season with a 2-2 draw.
The first goal of the match came after a tightly contested, scoreless first half, when junior defender Dory Latenser drew contact in the 18-yard box in the 47th minute and senior midfielder Shayna da Silva capitalized on the resulting penalty kick.
Six minutes after the Blue Demons captured the 1-0 lead, the Pioneers answered with a goal of their own in the 53rd minute, putting a header in the back of the net to even the match at 1-1.
Undeterred by Denver's equalizer, freshman forward Katelyn Haiser delivered the game-winning goal in the 68th minute. Controlling a well-timed pass from senior midfielder Mackenzie Lee, Haiser evaded defenders down the sideline before coming in contact with the Pioneer goalkeeper one-on-one. Keeping her composure, the freshman drove the ball into the net, propelling the Blue Demons to a 2-1 victory at home.
Heading into Sunday's match, four different DePaul players — Latenser, Mya Gardner, da Silva and Haiser — each recorded a goal in the early season. Da Silva leads the Blue Demon roster with four points on one goal and two assists over two matches. In between the posts for the Blue Demons, senior goalkeeper Mason Hillery has played all 180 minutes and executed five saves.
Scouting Lindenwood
Since opening the 2026 campaign with a 44th minute goal from Mackenzie Compton to secure a 1-0 victory against Bellarmine University, Lindenwood has been held scoreless over the last two matches. Most recently, the Lions dropped a 1-0 decision against Illinois State at home.
Against the Redbirds, Lindenwood conceded the only goal of the match in the 19th minute and wasn't able to recover, despite holding a 7-3 edge in corner kick opportunities throughout the match and a 4-2 shot advantage in the second half.
This season, Compton, Lindenwood's lone goal scorer, returns to the lineup after a successful sophomore campaign that consisted of four goals and three assists. She is joined by fellow playmaker Anna Johnson, who resumes her role with the Lindenwood offense after leading the team last season with five goals.
Goalkeeper Caroline Ritter also rejoins this year's lineup after recording 87 saves and allowing 19 goals last season. This season, Ritter has conceded six goals and made 15 saves over three matches.
Series History
DePaul and Lindenwood take the field for the third time in history on Sunday, though it will be DePaul's first time traveling to Hunter Stadium. The Blue Demons have won both matchups, battling to a 3-1 victory in the first meeting in 2022 and a 2-0 decision in 2024.
