Blue Demons Head to Columbus for Monday Matchup with Ohio State

Two teams collide for first time since 2012
CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer continues its opening-week road swing with a trip to Columbus, Ohio to take on Ohio State Monday, Aug. 24. Kickoff from Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium is set for 6 p.m. CT with the match streamed live on B1G+ ($).
Demon Doings
The Blue Demons are in search of their first victory of the 2026 season after earning a 2-2 draw at Bradley in Thursday's season opener. DePaul rallied from a second-half deficit on freshman Mason Kutch's 86th-minute equalizer. Junior forward Luca Iaccino gave the Blue Demons an early lead in the 33rd minute, and DePaul carried a dominant 9-1 shot advantage into halftime before Bradley scored twice in a three-minute span early in the second half to take a 2-1 lead. DePaul answered late, with Daniel Hickiewicz and Noeh Hernandez combining to set up Kutch for the tying goal. Seven Blue Demons made their DePaul debuts in the opener, including Kutch along with Scott Godden and Ronan Selbo, who logged 80+ minutes apiece against the Braves.
Hickiewicz logged a game-high five shots for the Blue Demons in the opener, matching a career high. With his assist on the game-tying strike, Hernandez continued his ascent to the top of the program's all-time points list, moving to 13th with 43 career points. Junior netminder Hayden Vostal got the nod for the opener and made the second start of his career, making a pair of saves on four shots on goal.
Scouting Ohio State
The Buckeyes are 1-0 on the young season after a 1-0 victory versus Virginia Tech on opening night. OSU outshot the Hokies 19-6 on the evening and broke through in the 58th minute on a corner kick opportunity. Ohio State's roster is composed of 13 returners from last season's squad that was 6-10 overall in addition to 19 newcomers. Brian Maisonneuve is in his ninth season leading the program in Columbus.
Series Stuff
The Blue Demons and Buckeyes will meet for just the third time Monday and first time since the 2012 season. Ohio State won the previous two matchups, each by a one-goal margin. All three matches have taken place in Columbus. This is DePaul's first matchup with a Big Ten program not named Northwestern since facing off against 10th-ranked Indiana during the 2023 season.
