Blue Demons Visit Rival Loyola Chicago For In-State Clash

DePaul looks to bounce back after first loss of season
CHICAGO – The Blue Demon women's soccer team visits Loyola Chicago for the 18th contest in the Red Line rivalry on Sunday, Sept. 6. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. with streaming available on ESPN+.

The Blue Demons faced their first setback of the season, falling 1-0 to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Wish Field on Thursday, Sept. 3.
Western Kentucky's only goal of the match came in the 15th minute off a rebounded shot in front of goal. Goalkeeper Mason Hillery successfully reached the first strike in front of goal by making a diving save, but the ball rolled to the feet of Makenna Egan, who evaded Hillery and scored the game-winner.
The Blue Demons were outshot 7-0 in the first half, but came out in the second 45 stronger, attempting six shots. DePaul's offensive spike nearly paid dividends in the 89th minute on a header from Dory Latenser, but the shot — which snaked past the Western Kentucky goalkeeper and into goal — was waved off for being offside.
In goal, Hillery recorded a career-high eight saves.
Scouting Loyola Chicago
The Ramblers host the Blue Demons riding the wave of two shutouts split on the road and at home. After recording a clean sheet against Illinois State on Aug. 30, Loyola Chicago fought to a 0-0 draw at Northwestern behind strong goalkeeping from Allison Deardorff.
Northwestern held a 19-3 shot advantage over 90 minutes but Deardorff executed eight saves to keep the score even through 90 minutes. Zoe Hevey recorded the only shot on goal for the Ramblers.
This season, Loyola Chicago scored all three of its goals at home. Maggie Schmidt leads the roster with two goals and Sarah Collins tallied one goal.
Deardorff has played all 450 minutes in goal for the Ramblers this season. The senior goalkeeper has allowed six goals, executed 26 saves and recorded three shutouts
The Ramblers are unbeaten, 2-0, at home.
Series History
The Blue Demons and Ramblers will meet for the 18th time in history on Sunday, Sept. 6, as DePaul looks for its first win since 2019. Loyola Chicago leads the series 11-5-1, the last meeting at Wish Field ending in a 2-0 Blue Demon loss.
