Ben Hibbert
- Title:
- Assistant Coach
Hibbert joined DePaul in September 2025 as an assistant coach for track & field, bringing championship-level experience from the University of New Orleans and Indiana University.
Hibbert most recently led the UNO program, progressing from assistant to interim head coach in 2023 before being named head coach later that year. At just 25 years old, he was one of the youngest head coaches in the country. Over his two seasons at the helm, he guided the Privateers to 15 school records, nine Southland Conference champions, three Conference Newcomer of the Year honorees, one Conference Freshman of the Year, one Conference Runner of the Year, nine NCAA West Regional qualifiers, and one NCAA Second Team All-American in hurdler John Adesola. His teams also delivered historic point totals at the 2024 Southland Indoor Championships, highlighted by a program-record 93 points from the women’s squad.
Before taking over the UNO program, Hibbert served as the Privateers’ assistant coach for sprints, hurdles, and jumps in 2022-23. That season, he developed five NCAA West Regional qualifiers, including Southland champions in the 400m hurdles and women’s long jump, while producing 10 school records.
He began his collegiate coaching career at Indiana University in 2021–22, working with sprinters and hurdlers. There, he coached Rikkoi Brathwaite to a runner-up finish in the 60m at the NCAA Indoor Championships (6.52). Hibbert also gained private coaching experience with world-class athletes through Hurdle Mechanic.
As a student-athlete at Cal State Northridge, Hibbert was a Big West All-Conference selection and a multi-time All-Academic honoree. He earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology (sports studies) magna cum laude in 2020, followed by a master’s in sport and coaching science at Indiana in 2022, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.
A native of Bakersfield, California, Hibbert specializes in sprints and hurdles and brings both athlete development expertise and proven leadership to the Blue Demon program.
