Men's Soccer Travels to Valparaiso, Hosts Charlotte

CHICAGO - The DePaul men's soccer team plays their final home match of the season on Sunday afternoon against the Charlotte 49ers. Prior to the Senior Day match, the Blue Demons will travel to Valparaiso to take on the Crusaders Friday afternoon.
Senior Day
Before Sunday's match, five members of the soccer team will be recognized for their efforts throughout their careers at DePaul. Seniors Jash Chavero, Chris Greer, Robert Marshall, Dimitri Rousseau and Ryan Wunderlich will be introduced just before the 1 p.m. kickoff at Wish Field.
Looking at the Blue Demons
DePaul enters this weekend at 2-10-2 overall and 1-4-2 in Conference USA play. With three C-USA matches left on the schedule, the Blue Demons are still entertaining thoughts of the league tournament in two weeks. Three wins over Charlotte, TCU and Memphis would place DePaul in Tampa for the Conference USA tournament.
Senior forward Chris Greer leads DePaul with nine points on four goals and an assist. His four scores this season have moved him into fifth all-time in DePaul history with 25 career goals. Robert Marshall has scored three times this season while Ed Kiefer has added two goals and two assists. In goal, keepers Jash Chavero and Jeff Klitzke have combined for a 2.30 goals against average while recording 68 saves.
Checking Out This Weekend's Opponents
Valparaiso stands at 4-9-1, but started the season by winning four of their first seven matches. Scott Daly leads the club with eight goals while Ben Olson has added two scores and two assists.
The Charlotte 49ers are currently in sixth place in Conference USA at 3-2-1 and 7-6-2 overall. They host the Louisville Cardinals on Thursday night before traveling to Chicago for Sunday's match. Mira Mupier leads the team with six goals and an assist. He is followed by Juan Munoz-Airey with five goals and Chris Wargin with four scores.
Looking Ahead
After playing their final home game, DePaul travels to TCU and Memphis to wrap up the regular season. The TCU match, originally scheduled for Sept. 18, will be Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. The season finale is set for Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. in Memphis.
The 2001 Conference USA Tournament will be at South Florida, Nov. 15-17. The winner of the six-team tourney receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
