Craig Blazer Named Region Coach of the Year

CHICAGO DePaul men's soccer coach Craig Blazer added another piece of hardware for the 2007 season when he was named the NSCAA/adidas Coach of the Year for the Great Lakes Region. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) selects a coach of the year for each of its eight regions.
Blazer, along with assistant coach Adam Tinkham, earned BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year honors after leading the Blue Demons to the best season in program history.
After being picked to finish last in their division, DePaul won the BIG EAST's Red Division and earned the program's first NCAA Championship bid. The Blue Demons finished the season tying the program record for most wins with 12 in 2007.
DePaul finished 2007 with a 12-7-0 record and lost to Bradley in the first round of the NCAA Championship. The Blue Demons also reached the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championship after knocking off Cincinnati in the quarterfinals.
The season firsts saw the Blue Demons earned their first national ranking, their highest regional ranking and the first 4-0-0 start in program history. DePaul posted a program-best 9-1-0 record at Wish Field this season while the team totaled a school-record 10 in 2007.
