CHICAGO – With the latest edition of the NCAA stats out today, the DePaul men’s soccer team stands as the only NCAA Division I program to not allow a goal this season. The Blue Demons have posted four consecutive shutouts to begin the 2007 campaign.
Goalkeeper Brian Visser is the only goalkeeper in the NCAA stats with a 0.00 goal against average. He also leads the country in save percentage while the team is one of 12 programs without a defeat this season. The BIG EAST Conference features three undefeated teams with Connecticut, DePaul and USF without a loss in 2007.
Sophomore Alex Mangan is ranked 29th with 0.75 goals per game and 32nd with 1.75 points per match while Steffen Vroom is ranked 11th with 0.75 assists per game. As a team, DePaul is 45th with 1.75 goals per match.
The Blue Demons open BIG EAST play this weekend against Providence and Connecticut at Wish Field. Kickoff on Friday with the Friars is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday’s match against Connecticut is the first half of a DePaul soccer doubleheader with the men’s team kicking off at 1 p.m. The DePaul women’s team closes the twinbill with a non-conference match against IPFW at 4 p.m.
