DePaul Knocks Off Cincinnati in Finale at The Match Play

TAMPA, Fla. - Led by victories from Charles Boucher and Maximilian Mayer, the DePaul golf team defeated Cincinnati in its final match of this weekend's The Match Play at TPC Tampa Bay. The Blue Demons finished the event with a 1-2 team record while Mayer posted three victories in his three matches.
Following the five individual matches between the Blue Demons and Bearcats, the score was tied at 2.5-2.5. DePaul was declared the winner of the match under the tournament's tiebreaking criteria with the Blue Demons totaling more holes than Cincinnati.
Boucher turned in an impressive performance with a 6-and-5 victory over Zack Bates while Mayer posted a 1-Up victory over David Tepe. Mortiz Ackerhans took a half-point in his match against Andrew Desmarais while Russell Budd and Ben Westley each came up on the short end of a 1-Up match score.
Kennesaw State won the tournament with a 3-2 victory over Ball State in the championship match.
Up next for the Blue Demons is a trip to South Carolina. DePaul faces Ohio University in a head-to-head match on Saturday, Feb. 19 before competing in the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 21 and 22 in Hilton Head, S.C.
