LAS VEGAS - Offense was on full display in the nightcap of the second day of the Alexis Park Resort Classic on Saturday night. The DePaul softball team lost a slugfest to Idaho State in its second game of the evening, 10-5.
Both teams combined for 20 hits - five of which left the ballpark - in the seven-inning affair.
Idaho State (8-8) got the game started with a two-run double in the bottom of the first to take the opening lead of the contest.
A bases-loaded single by Angela Scalzitti plated a run and brought the score line to 2-1 in favor of the Bengals.
The home team pushed its lead back to two following a solo home run down the left field line in the third before another RBI single from Scalzitti made it a 3-2 game.
DePaul (6-11) managed to gain the lead after a pinch-hit, two-run blast by Kali Gardner in the top of the sixth.
Idaho State responded by pushing six runs across in the home half of the frame off of six hits, including a pair of two-run homers and a solo shot, to make the score 10-4 heading to the final three outs for the Blue Demons.
Morgan Maize laced a double to right field, scoring Dylan Christensen, but that was all DePaul could muster as the team dropped its third-straight contest.
The Blue Demons were paced at the plate by Scalzitti, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the leadoff spot. Naomi Tellez and Marsha' Pendilton produced identical lines going 2-for-3 and adding three putouts.
Megan Leyva went the distance in the defeat, striking out four in six innings of work.
DePaul closes out its trip to Las Vegas against Wisconsin tomorrow at 11 a.m.
