CHICAGO - DePaul's first shutout in conference play two days ago paid dividends for the men's soccer program on Monday.
Quentin Low was selected the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week after spearheading the Blue Demon defense in a 1-0 victory over Georgetown Saturday in Washington, D.C.
Erik Rodriguez, who was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the third time this season, scored the game-winner in the 15th minute after a smooth connection by Hans Wustling and Philipp Koenigstein.
For the final 75 minutes, Low and a back line featuring Caleb Pothast, John Freitag, Max de Bruijne, Sasa Labovic and Wustling withstood the Hoyas' 17-shot attack.
Low was up to the task on all three Georgetown shots on goal and won the first major BIG EAST weekly award of his career. He earned a spot on the Honor Roll on Sept. 5.
In NCAA statistics released Monday, Low is No. 22 in the country in goalkeeper minutes while Rodriguez is No. 20 in the nation in game-winning goals. Rodriguez is No. 35 in total goals and Wustling is No. 39 in assists.
As a team, DePaul is No. 8 in the nation in assists, No. 15 in points and No. 21 in goals.
The Blue Demons will resume their quest for a spot in the BIG EAST Championship on Saturday with a 1 p.m. match against Providence. Rodriguez, Megally, Kevin Beyer, Ryan Martire and Danny Lojek will be honored on Senior Day at Wish Field.
