DePaul Faces No. 15 Butler on Field Trip Day

CHICAGO - These Blue Demons will have one final chance to cash in on home-field advantage when they take on No. 15 Butler at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wish Field.
A large contingent of school children will cheer on DePaul (7-6-2, 2-4-0 in the BIG EAST) during a Field Trip Day match that will be broadcast by the BIG EAST Digital Network.
Coach Craig Blazer's side is currently two points out of a berth in the BIG EAST playoffs. With the final two regular-season games on the road, it emphasizes the urgency of gaining three points in the standings on Wednesday with a win.
It won't be easy. Butler (9-4-1, 4-2-0) opened the season unbeaten in nine of its first 10 games. The Bulldogs then dropped three in a row, including setbacks against No. 10 Creighton and No. 7 Denver.
They got back on the winning track with a 1-0 result last Saturday over Seton Hall.
Dangerous striker David Goldsmith leads Butler with 10 goals and three assists. Lewis Suddick is a legitimate second option on offense with eight goals and two assists.
On the season, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 29-16 and outpointed teams 88-45. They hold a 95-66 advantage in shots on goal.After Wednesday's match, DePaul heads to New York for a Saturday evening showdown at St. John's.
The Red Storm are 6-4-4, 2-2-2 and have outscored teams 16-11 with an 84-60 advantage in shots on goal. St. John's currently holds down the sixth and final BIG EAST playoff spot, one point ahead of Georgetown.
Filippo Ricupati leads the Red Storm with six goals while Harry Cooksley has four goals and six assists.

- The Blue Demons have outscored opponents 26-20 with a 30-20 edge in assists and 76-73 in shots on goal.
- DePaul is No. 14 in the country in assists per game, No. 15 in total assists, No. 25 in points and No. 30 in goals.
- Erik Rodriguez is No. 27 in the nation in game-winning goals while Quentin Low is No. 2 in the BIG EAST in goalkeeper minutes.
- The Blue Demons are second in the conference in assists per game, total assists, points and goals.
- Rodriguez's seven goals are a career high and is tied for the team lead with Simon Megally.
- Junior Hans Wustling is No. 6 all-time in career assists with 16, six behind all-time leader Klaus Lunde (1992-95).
