Quotes
Head coach Mark Plotkin
On the positive outcome of Saturday's match...
"Max scored a goal. I thought the guys fought well for 60 minutes or so to earn the goal to keep it 0-0 at half. I think we just let the penalty kick call get in our heads a little bit and struggle to fight back after we gave that one back to get ourselves back on track and realize what was working and get back to the plan. Butler's a really good team; when you give them those opportunities, they're going to be able to score. They haven't had a lot of success in the last few seasons for no reason. It was disappointing with the result but you can find some positives in there."
What he wants to improve on for next week's matchup at St. John's...
"I think just clearing things up a little bit more defensively and just working on our response in those situations. We have to realize that we are a good team, and when we have it all together we can beat anybody. When you start to implode a little internally, that's when things go bad and I think that's a little bit of what happened today and Butler punished us for it."
On his message to the team...
"I just told them that there's still four BIG EAST games left, there's plenty of points to play. The BIG EAST this year is completely jumbled. We're just looking for that one playoff spot and if we can manage to get some results in the next few games, we're definitely going to be playing post-season play. We just have to take it one game at a tame and take care of our chances going forward."
Senior captain Harry Hilling
What the team learned from Saturday's match...
"The biggest takeaway is just responding to adversity. We were up a goal there and it was an unfortunate call. Obviously it was tied up 1-1 but just making sure we keep battling through that. That's what Coach touched on right there at the end -- there's a lot of points still there to pick up, so you have to battle through adversity."
On what they can improve on after the match against Butler...
"Improving is just getting back to what we're doing: playing our game, putting a full 90 minutes together. We had stints where we looked really good there against Butler and then a portion where we kinda fell off and they took it to us so just putting the full 90 together and playing our game."
