DePaul Battles to Scoreless Draw against Providence

The Blue Demons played their fifth double OT game Thursday
CHICAGO - The Blue Demons played their eleventh overtime period in a match that ended in scoreless draw against Providence on Thursday, giving both teams a point in the BIG EAST standings. DePaul now sits at 6-6-4, 2-3-2 BIG EAST and Providence at 8-5-3, 2-3-2 BIG EAST, still tied in the conference standings.
How it Happened
DePaul controlled the majority of the match offensively, outshooting the Friars 20-11. Morgan Turner got things started off quickly for the Blue Demons. In the first 15 minutes, the sophomore had two shots on goal and DePaul already had three corner kicks.
The Blue Demons won the battle of the corners 14-6. They would tack on another in the first half, seven in the second half, another in the first OT period and two more in the second OT.
The Blue Demons would see a series of multiple chances in the second half, but none found the back of the net. In the 48th minute, Franny Cerny sent a corner kick straight to Ellie Mink who headed it just high of the net. Madeline Frick would get a breakaway chance in the 57th minute but send a screamer just wide. Bina Saipi took an attempt in the 58th that went high and Mink would take another in the 60th.
In the 80th minute, Cerny took a try and headed the ball towards the goal but it flew just over the crossbar behind the net. Turner found her chance in the 84th minute off a corner kick but it also flew just too high.
DePaul would get three more shots off in overtime but to no avail.
In goal, Mollie Eriksson made seven saves to record her sixth shutout of the season.

Their offense is lead by Bri Austin who has seven goals and 15 points on the season. Behind her is Chloe O'Neill with four. Niki Molina takes the lead in assists with six and right behind her is Kristin Barbour with five. In goal, Hensley Hancuff has notched just one shutout, 45 saves and a goals against average of 1.05 with a save percentage of 0.804.
