Blue Demons Bounce Back in Win Over Boston

FULLERTON, Calif. - After dropping to Iowa State earlier in the day, the Blue Demons sought redemption in a 4-2 victory over Boston University to complete the first day of Easton Invitational contests.
DePaul was the first to strike after Angela Scalzitti scored the first run of the game. Scalzitti doubled deep down the left field line and advanced to third on a flyout. Scalzitti crossed home on a double from Gabby O'Riley to put DePaul up 1-0.
Boston would capture the lead after scoring two runs in the bottom half of the inning, but it wouldn't take long for DePaul to get back on top.
DePaul scored two runs in the top of the third. Brianna Viles was walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. She would make her way to third on a ground out. Scalzitti singled through the right side, scoring Viles. Scalzitti would advance to second on a wild pitch and would eventually score on a double from Jessica Cothern.
DePaul placed its final run in the top of the seventh. Cothern singled to left field before being replaced by pinch runner Taylor Young. Young would circle back home on an O'Riley single.
DePaul will play in two Saturday contests, with the first against Long Beach State at noon and the second against Cal State Fullerton at 5:30 p.m. CT.
