CHICAGO, Ill. - The Blue Demons are set to depart for New York to play in a three-game series against St. John's for the top spot in the BIG EAST. The two will compete in a doubleheader on Thursday starting at 11 a.m. CT and will play the final game of the series on Saturday at 10 a.m. CT.
DePaul currently boasts a record of 29-9 (8-1 BIG EAST) on the season and is on an eight-game win streak, with its lone conference loss being delivered by Butler in late March.
This past Tuesday, DePaul took down non-conference foe Illinois State 6-5 by walk-off fashion in the ninth inning of play. DPU jumped out to an instant 2-0 lead on a two-run homer from Jessica Cothern. Illinois State would score its first run in the top of the fourth to cut the score in half but DePaul would make it 5-1 on a solo home run and a two-RBI double, courtesy of Alysia Rodriguez. The Redbirds would knot the score in the top of the seventh and a walk-off double from Angela Scalzitti would bring in the deciding run in the ninth frame.
