Softball Travels to South Orange to Take on Seton Hall

Blue Demons and Pirates prepare for three-game set April 17-19
CHICAGO – Facing a quick turnaround, DePaul softball travels east to visit Seton Hall for a three-game BIG EAST series April 17-19. The two sides square off at Mike Sheppard Sr. Field beginning Friday at 1 p.m. CT, with all three contests set to be streamed live on ESPN+.
Demon Doings
• Winners of three in a row, DePaul heads into the back half of the conference schedule at 15-24 overall and 4-11 in league play.
• The Blue Demons picked up a 6-3 midweek victory over crosstown rival UIC on Wednesday afternoon to even the season series.
• Sophomore outfielder Jolie Adams has been an offensive catalyst for the Blue Demons, batting .436 on the season, which ranks third in the BIG EAST. Adams went 2-for-4 against the Flames, extending her hit streak to eight games.
• DePaul has been aggressive on the base paths, totaling 62 stolen bases this season. That mark ranks second in the BIG EAST and is the program's highest total since recording 63 in the 2011 campaign.
• Sophomore right-hander Hannah Messer has led the DePaul pitching staff with 102.1 innings pitched across 29 appearances and owns a 4.93 ERA.
Scouting Seton Hall
• The Pirates enter the weekend on a four-game win streak and sit at 17-23 overall and 5-13 in conference play after sweeping a doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday.
• Sophomore outfielder Angelina Benitez leads Seton Hall offensively, batting a team-best .408 while totaling a league-leading 58 hits.
• In the circle, Seton Hall features a three-pitcher rotation, led by senior right-hander Kyra Kreuscher, who owns a staff-best 4.10 ERA in 68.1 innings across 28 appearances. Her 65 strikeouts rank fifth in the BIG EAST.
• Angie Churchill is in her fifth season leading the Pirates program.
