Schedule Changes in Effect for Final Home Series Against Creighton

CHICAGO, Ill. - Due to expected inclement weather, this weekend's home series against Creighton has been altered to a single game Saturday at 9 a.m. and a doubleheader Sunday, with the first game set to start at 11 a.m.
Along with it being the final home series of the 2019 season, Sunday will be an action-packed day at Cacciatore Stadium as the DePaul softball program celebrates Senior Day and Alumni Day. Additionally, DePaul softball's 2017 and 2018 BIG EAST Champion teams will be honored in a ring presentation ceremony between games.Â
DePaul is currently 30-10 overall on the season and 9-2 in conference play. The Blue Demons sit second in the BIG EAST standings under St. John's.Â
Last Time Versus Creighton
DePaul holds a 16-7 advantage in the series against the Bluejays and has won the last eight contests between the two, with the most recent coming from a 6-2 victory in 2018 to capture its fourth all-time BIG EAST tournament title and repeat as champions. A nearly two-hour long rain delay added drama to an already highly-anticipated game.
Creighton struck first in the opening inning of play to take a 2-0 lead, but DePaul would tie things up in the bottom half of the inning. In the second inning, the Blue Demons would take a 3-2 lead on a sac fly from Kate Polucha before the rain delay put a halt on things. Out of the stoppage, a two-run home run from Megan Leyva and one final insurance run on an RBI-single from cothern that would seal the deal for the Blue Demons.Â
Scouting The Bluejays
Currently 17-21 on the season, Creighton opened up its 2019 slate going 1-4 in the New Mexico State Invitational. The Bluejays enter this weekend's series on a three-game losing streak after dropping the final game of a series against Butler as well as two non-league contests against South Dakota State on Tuesday.
Picked to finish first in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, Creighton currently sits in the number six spot in the conference. Creighton currently boasts two batters who are hitting over a .300 in Ashley Cantu and Kiara Mills.Â
