Blue Demons Fall to Purdue

CHICAGO - DePaul women's soccer fell to the Purdue Boilermakers 3-0 on Thursday afternoon at Wish Field at Cacciatore Stadium.Â
The Blue Demons (0-3-0) played a defensively heavy first half, but Purdue (3-0-0) kept up the offensive pressure, firing off five shots on goal in the first half. The scoring started rolling for the Boilermakers when Aly Mielke scored off a loose ball in front of the net in the 53rd minute. Leanna Rebimbas increased their lead to 2-0 off a ball from Sydney Duarte in the 66th minute before a free kick taken by Sydney Sparks would sail right into the top left of the net for a 3-0 insurance goal.Â
DePaul's four shots on goal came from Kristin Boos, Morgan Turner, Jessica Lazo and Mary Tierney. Keeper Mollie Eriksson netted two saves.Â
UP NEXT
DePaul will hit the road for Dayton, Ohio to take on the Flyers Sunday at noon. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.Â

The Flyers are 1-1-0, splitting their two matches: defeating Miami (Ohio) 5-1 and falling to Illinois, 3-2. They went 8-9-2 last season, returning 16 letterwinners and 10 newcomers.Â
