Softball Headed for 2020 Pirate Clash

CHICAGO - The DePaul softball team enters this weekend with the 2020 Pirate Clash hosted by the East Carolina Pirates. Along with the Pirates, the Blue Demons (2-3) will face the likes of George Washington and Hampton.

DePaul will face George Washington and East Carolina on Friday (11:30 a.m. adn 4:30 p.m.) before taking on Hampton and East Carolina on Saturday (11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.). The Blue Demons will face Hampton in an early morning 8:00 a.m. Sunday matchup to close out the tournament.

After the Doc Halverson UNI-Dome Classic, Erin Andris leads DePaul with two home runs, five hits and is batting .294. Gabby O'Riley has the highest batting percentage with .333. Pitchers Krista Dalgarn (1-0) and Natalie Halvorson (1-2) earned a win each in the circle last weekend. Halvorson leads the Blue Demons' pitching staff with 10 strikeouts.

SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON (0-5, 0-0 A-10 | RPI 114 | Picked 6th in A-10)

Opened up the 2020 season at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge against the likes of BYU, Utah Valley, Oregon State, Long Beach State and #3 Oklahoma.
Took a share of the A-10 title last season for the first time in program history.
The Colonials return 14 while welcoming five newcomers.
Top returners include seniors Jenna Cone and Jessica Linquist while Shane WInkler returns for his second season as head coach.

SCOUTING HAMPTON (1-0, 0-0 BIG SOUTH | RPI 232 | Picked 5th in BS)

Opened the season with a 15-4 win over North Carolina A&T before the second game of their doubleheader was canceled.
One senior returns with teh addition of 10 freshman under head coach Angela Nicholson who begins her fourth year.

SCOUTING EAST CAROLINA (2-3, 0-0 AAC | RPI 130 | Picked 6th in AAC)

Kicked off the season at the Kickin' Chicken Classic.
Courtney Oliver returns for her fifth season at the helm as head coach.
Notable returners include junior RHP Erin Peopping, redshirt senior INF Rachel McCollum and junior INF Ashleigh Inae.
Posted a 23-31 finish last season.

DePaul holds a 13-4 record over ECU after their last matchup in 2005.
