CHICAGO - A four run first inning powered Kentucky over DePaul in a five inning game one of day two of the Samford Tournament in Birmingham, Ala. on Saturday morning. The Blue Demons fall to 5-8.Â
The Wildcats powered in six runs in the last three innings to secure the victory over the Blue Demons. Larissa Spellman took home the win for UK while freshman Brooke Johnson took the loss and now sits at 1-1.Â
DePaul's lone run came in the first inning. Junior shortstop Maranda Gutierrez was hit by a pitch and advanced to third on a sophomore Gabby O'Riley double. Johnson then flied out to score Gutierrez.Â

DePaul will face Samford in a rematch scheduled at 3 p.m. CT. The Bulldogs defeated the Blue Demons yesterday in a 9-1 six inning game.Â
