
DePaul Drops Road Game at Georgetown

Five players score in double figures for the Blue Demons
WASHINGTON, D.C. – DePaul went cold late in the second half in a 76-72 loss at Georgetown on Saturday afternoon. Jalen Coleman-Lands led five players in double figures with 17 points while Paul Reed scored 12 points with 13 rebounds.
Behind three-pointers from Charlie Moore and Romeo Weems, the Blue Demons put together an early 12-4 run to take a 16-7 lead with 13:46 left in the first half. The Blue Demons maintained the advantage throughout the first half as another three by Weems made the score 19-10 forcing Georgetown to take a time out with 11:51 on the clock.
Georgetown pulled to within six points on a dunk by Omer Yurtseven with just under five minutes left, but DePaul answered and stretched the lead back to 11 points. However, the Hoyas ended the half by scoring the final five points and the Blue Demons held a 38-32 lead at the break.
DePaul (13-11, 1-10 BIG EAST) held at least a four-point advantage for the first 11 minutes of the second half before two free throws and a tip in on consecutive possessions by Georgetown tied the score at 57-57 with 8:21 left in the game.
Thirty seconds later, the Hoyas took their first lead of the game on two free throws before Jaylen Butz answered with a bucket to tie the score at 59-59 with 6:48 on the clock.
Following the basket by Butz, the Blue Demons went without a field goal until Weems scored off his own miss with 45.6 seconds left to make the score 70-67 in favor of Georgetown.
The Blue Demons forced a turnover, but a bid to tie the game by Coleman-Lands went off the rim. After a back-and-forth final 20 seconds, Georgetown sealed the win with two free throws for the 76-72 final score.
Coleman-Lands led DePaul with 17 points while passing 1,000 career points in his collegiate career. Butz and Moore scored 14 points with Moore adding nine assists. Romeo Weems also finished in double figures with 11 points and five rebounds.
Georgetown (14-10, 4-7 BIG EAST) was led by Jahvon Blair who led all scorers with 30 points and 16 points and eight rebounds from Yurtseven.
The Blue Demons are off for a week and return to action next Saturday at Creighton. Start time in Omaha is 6:30 p.m. on FS1 and WSCR (670 AM).
