Turner and Boos lead the Blue Demon offense in 3-0 win
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - DePaul women's soccer picked up right where it left off on Sunday, rolling to a 3-0 win over Seton Hall in South Orange, N.J. on Thursday evening. After posting a hat trick in DePaul's 3-2 win over Villanova, Blue Demon forward Morgan Turner scored twice in the Blue Demon win over the Pirates. Kristin Boos also tallied a first-half goal to help build the advantage on the road.
"I'm really proud of our team for capitalizing on our chances," said head coach Michele O'Brien. "We didn't have a ton of clear looks on goal, but we took advantage of our opportunities and were composed in front of the net. It's great to score three goals and get a shutout on the road."
After scoring three first-half goals in the Blue Demons' first BIG EAST win on Sunday, Turner sparked the DePaul (5-7, 2-2 BIG EAST) offense in the early-going once again. Boos played Turner ahead in the attacking zone in the eighth minute and the DePaul graduate student was able to outrun the Seton Hall (6-7, 1-4 BIG EAST) defenders to put a clean shot on target. Turner's goal opened the scoring and was her eighth of the season.
Four minutes later, the Blue Demons were on the attack again. Midfielder Ebba Costow played a ball across the top of the 18-yard box to Boos who corralled the pass and tucked a right-footed shot into the far corner of the goal. Boos' strike put the Blue Demons up by a pair and was the junior's second goal of the season.
With a two-goal advantage, the Blue Demons worked to defend the lead in the first half. Seton Hall managed to fire off eight first-half shots but Mollie Eriksson and the rest of the DePaul defense kept the dangerous chances at a minimum. Eriksson made five first-half saves to keep the Pirates off of the board.
Coming out of the break, the Blue Demons found another scoring opportunity when Boos was fouled in the attacking box. On the ensuing penalty kick, Turner slotted her second goal of the game to make it 3-0. With the Blue Demons firmly ahead, they contained the Pirate offense and held Seton Hall to just two shots on net in the second half. Eriksson finished with seven saves, her most since a 1-0 loss at Michigan on Sept. 5.
