Blue Demons close out the weekend against Ball State at 10 a.m. on Sunday
Carbondale, Ill. – In its second game of the day at the Coach B Classic, DePaul could not find a spark on the offensive end and dropped a 5-0 decision to Austin Peay State.
Austin Peay State (5-2) got on the board early and the Blue Demons could never recover. The Governors tallied a leadoff single to center followed by a walk, before a three-run home run to left center gave Austin Peay State a 3-0 advantage after the first inning.
DePaul's lone hit on the evening came in the bottom of the fourth when Angela Scalzitti slapped a single up the middle to reach base.
The Governors put up two runs in the fifth to extend their lead. A leadoff walk followed by a double to center put runners on second and third. Two consecutive RBI singles brought the deficit to 5-0 for DePaul (4-4).
Natalie Halvorson fell to 1-2 on the season with the loss.
The Blue Demons wrap up competition at the Coach B Classic with a 10 a.m. matchup with Ball State on Sunday morning.
