Just three-hour break for DePaul after falling to Vanderbilt Wednesday morning
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Playing two matches on the same day with about three hours of rest in between was a demanding challenge for DePaul on Wednesday.
The Blue Demons were downed 7-0 by Belmont in the last leg of the tennis doubleheader on their spring break trip through Tennessee. Coach Matt Brothers' team had lost 6-1 at Vanderbilt on Wednesday morning.
DePaul is now 8-4 in the dual-match season while Belmont improved to 7-1.
The match started out promisingly enough when Christopher Casati and Boris Spanjaard opened the match on the Bruins' brand-new Rooftop Tennis Facility with a 6-1 victory over Marko Ilic and Taisei Miyamoto at No. 1 doubles.
But Belmont responded by winning the next two matches and clinching the doubles point. Maintaining their momentum, the Bruins swept all six singles matches.
Next up for coach Matt Brothers and his team is the biggest test on this spring break tour confronting No. 46 Middle Tennessee State on Friday in Murfreesboro.
