First touch is scheduled for noon CT at Valley Fields on Thursday
CHICAGO - DePaul women's soccer takes on the Marquette Golden Eagles on Thursday afternoon in Milwaukee, Wis. at Valley Fields at noon CT. DePaul (3-2, 2-2 BIG EAST) is looking to notch its third-straight BIG EAST victory after Sunday's 1-0 win over Butler at Wish Field.
The Blue Demons shut out the Bulldogs on Sunday and secured a 1-0 win after Mikaela Hoard notched her first-career goal in the first half. DePaul's defensive unit was able to become the first team to shut out Butler this season. The Bulldogs' loss was their first of the season.
DePaul matches up with Marquette (4-2, 2-2 BIG EAST) for the first time since dropping a 2-0 match to the Golden Eagles back on March 7 in Chicago. The Blue Demons maintained control of the contest and dominated overall possession but couldn't break through to get on the scoreboard. Meanwhile, Marquette made the most of its opportunities, scoring a pair of goals on just six total shots. After the win over the Blue Demons, Marquette also picked up a win over Xavier but has dropped conference matches versus Butler and Creighton.Â
Marquette and DePaul are currently tied for second place in the BIG EAST Midwest Division, both holding 2-2 conference records. Butler leads the division with a 4-1 BIG EAST record. The top two teams based on conference win percentage in each of the BIG EAST's divisions will move on to the BIG EAST Championships in April.Â
