DePaul takes on Creighton at 6 p.m. on Friday night
CHICAGO - DePaul men's soccer's heads to Omaha, Nebraska on Friday to take on the Creighton Bluejays at 6 p.m. CT. The Blue Demons are looking to get back into the win column after consecutive overtime losses to Butler and Marquette.
DePaul hits the pitch for the first time since dropping a 2-1 heartbreaker in overtime at Marquette on Thursday, March 25. The Blue Demons had their matchup with Xavier that was scheduled for March 28 postponed due to COVID issues within the Musketeers' program.
The Blue Demons last win came against the Bluejays, a 2-1 victory at Wish Field back on March 13. Senior Timmy Iscra scored to give DePaul the lead in the 77th minute on a header off of a corner kick. The win was the first ever for DePaul men's soccer over Creighton.
Creighton holds a 10-1 advantage in the all-time series and the Bluejays have won three of their last four games, notching wins over Butler, Xavier and Kansas City. Creighton has scored three goals in back-to-back games and has not been shutout in conference play this spring.
The top two teams from each division of the BIG EAST will advance to the conference championships. Marquette currently leads the Midwest Division with a 5-1-1 record while Creighton sits in second with a 4-2 clip. The top two teams seem fairly safe at the moment as Butler sits in third with a 2-2-2 mark and DePaul holds a 2-4 BIG EAST record.
The Blue Demons return to Chicago next week to host Xavier for the conference finale on Wednesday before matching up with Aurora University on Saturday, April 10.
