Blue Demons kept scoreless in 1-0 defeat
MILWAUKEE, Wis. - DePaul women's soccer could not find the back of the net in a road affair versus Milwaukee on Thursday night, falling 1-0. The Blue Demons (2-2) were stifled by the Panthers (4-0) defense that has yet to allow a goal through four matches this fall.
The match in Milwaukee was closely contested all evening. With back-and-forth chances in the first half, Milwaukee was able to get on the board in the 26th minute. Just over ten minutes later, Morgan Turner had a chance on an off-balance shot on the right side of the box. Turner's quick shot sailed high, and the Panthers kept their season-long shutout intact.
Minutes later, Turner was looking to chase down a lobbed through ball when she collided with the Panther keeper. Milwaukee collected the loose ball and safely avoided the DePaul scoring chance.
In the second half, the Blue Demons outshot Milwaukee 7-6 in their efforts to tie the match. In the 64th minute, Ebba Costow found the ball in an opening within the box. Costow corralled the ball and fired a low shot that was saved by Milwaukee's Elainia LaMacchia.
The Panthers held on to claim the 1-0 win. Turner totaled a game-high four shots in the effort to jumpstart the Blue Demon offense.
