CHICAGO - DePaul women's soccer heads to Washington, D.C. to take on the No. 22 Georgetown Hoyas on Thursday at 3 p.m. CT. The Blue Demons (3-6, 0-1 BIG EAST) are in search of their first conference victory after a 1-0 loss against St. John's on Sunday.
DePaul and Georgetown will square off for the 20th time in the all-time matchup and DePaul will be searching for its seventh win in the series. DePaul claimed a 1-0 overtime win in the last matchup, a contest at Wish Field in Chicago on Oct. 24, 2019.
FINISHING CHANCES
DePaul was able to fire off 17 shots versus the Red Storm on Sunday but couldn't find the back of the net, falling 1-0. The Blue Demons were able to put 12 shots on net, including seven in the second half, but St. John's keeper Naya Lipkens stopped all of the attempts.
MORE FROM MORGAN
Graduate student Morgan Turner has led the Blue Demon offense this fall, tallying a team-high four goals. Turner has 26 career goals as a Blue Demon and is one goal away from cracking into the top five all-time list in DePaul women's soccer history. Turner scored in the second half of DePaul's win over Eastern Illinois on Sept. 18. Turner was named to the All-BIG EAST second team following the 2020-21 campaign. Turner earned first-team honors following a 10-goal output in the Blue Demons' last full season in 2019.
BIG EAST HONORS
DePaul defender Grace Phillpotts was named BIG EAST defensive player of the week on Sept. 20 after the Blue Demons' win over EIU. Phillpotts tallied a pair of assists in the Blue Demons' win on Sept. 18. Phillpotts provided quality services to Boos and Morgan Turner on their second-half goals in the 3-0 victory. Phillpotts pair of assists gave the sophomore a new single-match career high and were her first of the season. Phillpotts also led the Blue Demon defense to its third shutout of the season. The Blue Demon backline has allowed multiple goals on just one occasion this season - the season opener versus Iowa.
HONOR ROLL STATUS
DePaul's Kristin Boos and Mollie Eriksson were tabbed to the conference honor roll for their performances in the 3-0 win over Eastern Illinois. Boos tallied her first goal of the season in match. Boos was set up by Phillpotts on the attack and buried a quick shot to give DePaul a 2-0 advantage. Boos' honor roll nod was her first since 2019. As a freshman, she scored three goals and earned BIG EAST second team honors in her debut season as a Blue Demon. Eriksson earned honor roll status after making three saves in the shutout on Saturday. Erkisson has now posted three shutouts this fall and has made three or more saves in each of the last five matches. The senior's honor roll recognition is her first BIG EAST honor since being tabbed goalkeeper of the week back in 2019.
