Blue Demons Drop to UCF at Redbird Invitational

Verma and Gitschel Fall to the University of Central Florida 0-3

NORMAL, Ill. – Junior Shourya Verma and Sophomore Jona Gitschel competed against Emilio Sanchez and Quinn Snyder from the University of Central Florida on day two of the Redbird Invitational hosted by Illinois State.

The Blue Demons opened the Davis Cup style tournament at 10 a.m. with a doubles match against the pair from UCF. Verma and Gitschel battled it out on the court but fell to Sanchez and Snyder 1-8.

The day continued with singles. Verma played against Snyder but lost 7-5, 6-3 in a hard-fought contest.

Gitschel took on UCF's Sanchez in a singles match, but came up short 6-3, 6-1.

Tomorrow, the Blue Demons play UIC for their third and final day at the Redbird Invitational.
