Four School Records Broken, Three First-Place Finishes at GVSU Big Meet

The Blue Demons wrap up the meet with 25 personal bests

ALLENDALE, MI - DePaul track & field wrapped up an eventful day at the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Mich. on Friday. The Blue Demons assembled four record-breaking performances and notched more than 20 individual personal bests in the flurry of action. Lorie Cashdollar, Ashton Colaire, Tori Carroll and Shane Knanishu all etched new program bests into the DePaul record books.

In the evening hours, DePaul finished up the 159 team meet with Billie Martin's first-place finish in the weight throw, 17.71m and Jason Montano's championing of the shot put, 17.06m. Cashdollar set a brand new school record in the women's 600m with a time of 1:31.83.

In the field events, Noelle Malkamaki threw for a new personal record, 15.81m, in the weight throw. On the track, Tori Carroll took 2nd place, beating her own school record in the 60m, with a time of 7.47. Carroll was followed by Jetta Mays who finished fifth, who set a new personal best with a 7.54. Kiersten Walker, Jade Pope, Maia Mays, and Alyssa Leak all set new personal records in the 400m.

On the men's side, Alex Bernstein and Thomas Goggin topped their personal bests in the weight throw, throwing for 17.43m and 14.21m, respectively. Shane Knanishu set a new program record in the mile, running a 4:07.52. Ashton Colaire improved his school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.89. In the 5000m, Dominic Bruce, 15:08.49, and Tommy Elwood, 15:09.81, hit new personal bests by over 40 seconds each.

The Blue Demons will make a return trip to Notre Dame next weekend for the Alex Wilson Invitational.
