DePaul Drops Game Two With Tulsa 7-5

Blue Demons take split Friday doubleheader
TULSA, Okla. — Despite scoring three runs in the first inning, DePaul dropped the second game of its doubleheader with Tulsa 7-5 on Friday night.
DePaul (6-9) was quick to put runners on base in the first inning with a Skylor Hilger walk followed by a Brooke Johnson single down the right field line. Johnson stole second to put a pair of runners in scoring position for Tori Meyer. Meyer struck her first homer of the season with a three-run strike to left field to put the Blue Demons in front 3-0.
Tulsa (6-9) responded with three runs on four hits in the second to knot the score at three apiece.
Both sides were scoreless for three innings, before DePaul jumped back on top in the fifth. Johnson drew a leadoff walk before Meyer sent a single down the left field line. Freshman Addison Talbot came up with the first hit of her career to load the bases. Fellow freshman Anna Wohlers singled to score Meyer and Johnson and put the Blue Demons back in front 5-3.
The Hurricane responded with four runs on four hits in the bottom half of the fifth to take the lead for good 7-5.
Right-hander Sarah Lehman went for five innings in the setback giving up seven runs on 10 hits. Senior Erin Hocker came in relief and surrendered just one hit in one inning of work.
The Blue Demons will play twice more in Tulsa on Saturday with a matchup against Minnesota at 11 a.m. (CT) and a meeting with Stanford at 1:30 p.m.
