DePaul Women Etch New Program Bests During Busy Day in California

DePaul wraps up day one of trip to the West Coast

CALIFORNIA - The Blue Demons finished their first day of action on the West Coast on Friday evening. In the first of two days of action, the DePaul highlight was a new 4x400m relay school record at the Mt SAC Relays. The Blue Demon grouping of Lorie Cashdollar, Kiersten Walker, Jade Pope and Maia Mays posted a 3:43.60 in a loaded field to top a program best that was set in 2019.

After the Blue Demon ladies made a move into the record books, DePaul's Olivia Borowiak crushed her personal and program best in the 5000m run. Borowiak, who was the last Blue Demon to compete on Friday, posted a 16:25.88 at Mt SAC. Borowiak, who previously held the program best, improved on her personal best by nearly 20 seconds.

At the Long Beach Invitational, Alex Bernstein set a new personal best in the hammer throw, throwing for a distance of 61.01m. The Blue Demons competed across three meets on Friday including Mt SAC, Long Beach and the Bryan Clay Invitational. Shane Knanishu finished the evening at the Bryan Clay with a 3:48.73 in the 1500m run, setting a personal best and narrowly missing out on setting a new school record.

In the men's field events, Ben Litwin competed in the hammer throw at the Long Beach Invitational, 53.26m. At Mt SAC on the track, Michael Stanley, Darius Brown, Dominic Cole and Cameron Attucks ran in the 4x100m finishing in 40.88. The Blue Demons also competed in the 4X400m, finishing fifth with a time of 3:13.40, two seconds off the program best. On the women's side, Esther Aldana, Kiersten Walker, Jetta Mays and Tori Carroll ran in the 4x100m in a time of 46.27.

The action returns tomorrow at the Long Beach Invitational beginning at 1:00pm CT. The Blue Demons will have a slew of field athletes and sprinters in action throughout the afternoon.
