
Blue Demons Head to Illini Challenge

DePaul gears up for second meet of the 2023 calendar year
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field is headed to the Illini Challenge on Friday in Champaign, Ill. The Illini Challenge serves as the Blue Demons second away meet of the season and first road trip of 2023.Â
The meet will kick off on Friday at 11 a.m. with women's 60m hurdles. Saturday's slate will begin at 10:15 a.m.
The Blue Demons will see action in 15 different events across both days of action. Billie Martin will participate in women's weight throw after being named BIG EAST Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday for hitting the 18.63m mark in the women's weight throw at her last outing.Â
Noelle Malkamaki will participate in the women's shot put after grinding out a first place finish at the last meet with a distance of 12.84m. Darius Brown will be back in action in the men's 60m hurdles after placing first in the Blue Demon Alumni Classic last weekend.Â
10 other schools will be present at the meet, including a collection of Illinois schools. Southern Illinois, Western Illinois, Illinois State and the host University of Illinois. BIG EAST rival Butler will be in attendance, as well as Central Arkansas, Lindenwood, Indiana Tech, Valparaiso and Wisconsin.
