Pressly recorded double digit-kills on Wednesday afternoon
MILWAUKEE, WIS. - DePaul volleyball dropped a three-set match to RV Marquette on Wednesday afternoon, 3-0 (16-25, 11-25, 15-25).
DePaul (10-6, 3-2 BIG EAST) was led by Jill Pressly who tallied 12 kills for her 14th straight match in double-digits.Â
Senior libero Rachel Krasowski totaled 15 digs, the 15th match this season she has eclipsed over 10 digs. Ashley Cudiamat led the squad with 12 assists and added a service ace.Â
"We got beat by their motor in transition and service game," said head coach Marie Zidek. "It is clear that our game is good enough to beat certain teams but not yet the high end. Have to get back to work in the gym and have a greater sense of urgency to push and grow our game. A lot of season left, and our goals all still remain. This is a really good measuring stick for us and should serve to motivate an elevating training gym."
Marquette (9-7, 5-0 BIG EAST) was led by Aubrey Hamilton with 11 kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE: The Blue Demons jumped out to a 3-1 lead as Pressly and Kindelberger recorded their first kills of the match. Both sides kept action close, and a duo of Marquette errors put the Blue Demons within one. The Golden Eagles concluded the set on an 8-0 run.
SET TWO: Audrey Klemp tallied two quick kills to even the match, 3-3. Marquette strung together three quick points and caused a DePaul timeout, but the Golden Eagles picked up following the break in play. The Blue Demons cut the lead down to nine, but the hosts surged ahead with a 7-2 run to take the set.
SET THREE: Three-straight points by the Blue Demons gave the team an early 3-1 lead. A service ace by Jones put DePaul up 5-4, but the Golden Eagles responded with a 4-0 run of their own. Marquette extended their lead, but DePaul continued to try to fight back on a kill by Nelson. Each side traded points at the end of the set, but Marquette clinched the win off of a kill.
