Blue Demons Face Final Road Test

HARTFORD, CONN. – The DePaul men's basketball team faces its final road test of the regular season against UConn, Wednesday, March 1. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. tip off from XL Center and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network. Andre Catalon and Steve Lappas have the television call while Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have the radio call on WSCR 670 The Score.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul played a stellar second half on the road against #10 Marquette, closing a 21-point deficit to just five points before Marquette came away with the 90-84 win. Umoja Gibson led DePaul in scoring for the 13th time this season with 20 points and eight assists.
The Blue Demons continue to see stellar play from Nick Ongenda, who made his return from injury on Feb. 14. Since returning to play, Ongenda is averaging 9.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.8 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. His blocks lead the nation in games played since Feb. 14 and individually rank 11th nationally among team blocks per game in that time frame.
THE SERIES
The Huskies lead the all-time series, 16-1, including a win inside Wintrust Arena this season on Jan. 31. DePaul's only victory in the series came Jan. 31, 2007 inside of AllState Arena with a 66-58 win. Both of last season's meetings between the two teams were single-digit finishes.
SCOUTING UCONN
UConn enters Wednesday as winners of six of their last seven, including a Saturday win against St. John's inside Madison Square Garden. The Huskies are led by a dynamic scoring duo in Adama Sanogo and Jordan Hawkins who average 16.9 and 16.6 points per game, respectively.
As a team, UConn ranks second nationally with a 9.1 rebound margin led mainly by Sanogo's presence. He leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per game and ranks eighth in the BIG EAST.
