Blue Demons welcome first place Huskies for three-game set
CHICAGO – DePaul softball closes out the home portion of its schedule, April 27-29, when the Connecticut visits Cacciatore Stadium for a three-game BIG EAST series. Live action can be followed on FloSports on Friday and Sunday while Saturday's contest will be televised nationally on FS2.
Lincoln Park will be full of fanfare as the Blue Demons will celebrate Alumni Day on Saturday and Senior Day before the series finale.

The Blue Demons will look to turn the tide and snap a nine-game skid after falling to Illinois 5-0 in the their final non-conference game of the 2023 campaign on Tuesday. 12-29 on the season and 4-14 in BIG EAST play, DePaul has six games remaining in the regular season slate.
Sophomore Anna Wohlers has led the Blue Demons at a .358 clip with a team-best 31 RBIs and .7462 slugging percentage with 23 extra-base hits. First baseman Brooke Johnson is batting .322 and is second on the team with 22 RBIs.
In the last 10 games, Nicole Sullivan has producd a .440/.680/533 line while driving in four runs.
In the circle, the Blue Demons have been using a pitch by committee method with all four pitchers making 16 or more appearances. Freshman Bella Nigey owns a staff-best 4.98 ERA to go along with 47 strikeouts. Senior right-hander Brenna Smith has seen the most time in the circle with 89.0 innings of work and 16 starts.

Connecticut enters the penultimate series of the regular season winners of 14 of their last 15 games sitting at 31-11 overall. The Huskies are 18-3 in BIG EAST play and are atop the standings through seven league series. The conference leaders have won four consecutive series and most recently swept Creighton on the road a weekend ago.
Sophomore Lexi Hastings has paced the Huskies, batting a team-best .387 with 26 RBIs, 13 hits for an extra-base including six home runs and a .500 on-base percentage. Catcher Grace Jenkins has team-high 36 RBIs runs on a .341 average behind 13 doubles.
In the circle, Payton Kinney and Hope Jenkins have seen the bulk of the work. Kinney boasts a staff-best 2.87 era and an 11-5 record through 84.2 innings pitched. Jenkins, a freshman, is 13-2 in 28 appearances and leads the squad with 95 strikeouts in 116.1 innings. Veteran Meghan O'Neil is second in the country in saves with eight through 25 appearances, 18 of those in relief.
