
DePaul Begins 2023 BIG EAST Tournament on Wednesday

Blue Demons face Seton Hall at 2 p.m. CT on FloSoftball
STORRS, Conn. – DePaul embarks on its quest for its sixth BIG EAST Tournament title on Wednesday, May 10. The sixth-seeded Blue Demons clinched their 17th-consecutive bid to the league's tournament in the final weekend of the regular season and will take on No. 3 Seton Hall in the first game of the six-team, double-elimination event. First pitch from Burrill Family Field on the campus of the University of Connecticut is slated for 2 p.m. CT.

Series with Seton Hall
DePaul has owned the series history with the Pirates, 30-9, but Seton Hall pulled off the sweep in the regular season outscoring the Blue Demons 31-16 at Cacciatore Stadium.

The two teams have met just three times in the tournament with DePaul holding a 2-1 edge. Seton Hall won the last postseason meeting 9-5 in the 2015 semifinal round in Rosemont, Ill.

Mainstays in May
The Blue Demons have found much success in the month of May, appearing in their 17th-straight BIG EAST Tournament this week. DePaul is 20-13 all-time and have collected five tournament crowns, the most of any active league member, including a three-peat stretch from 2017-19. Rooted in rich history, DePaul has gone on to 21 NCAA Regionals and four women's college world series. Adix-Zins and Co. look to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019.

The winner of Wednesday's matchup will advance to face No. 2 Villanova on Thursday at 2 p.m. CT with the loser moving to an elimination game at 6 p.m. on Wednesday against either Butler or St. John's.
