The Blue Demons tie the match with Green Bay 1-1
CHICAGO – DePaul women's soccer (1-1-1) fought to a 1-1 draw with Green Bay (0-2-1) on Friday evening. Green Bay made the first connection but Ellie Mink found the equalizer with a penalty kick goal in the 26th minute to tie the game.
Both teams started the game off strong, fighting back and forth for possession. It was an even playing field until Green Bay managed to break through and score the first goal of the game in the 21st minute.
Less than five minutes later, a Green Bay foul in the box earned the Blue Demons a penalty kick. Mink stepped up to plate and generated a response to tie the match.
In the second half, midfielder Beth Smyth continued to lead the attack against the Phoenix. DePaul put up multiple shots against Green Bay's goalkeeper but were unable to make another connection. The teams went on to fight to a draw by the end of the 90 minutes.
