DePaul Falls to UConn on Saturday

STORRS, CONN. - DePaul softball dropped Saturday afternoon's matchup to UConn, 6-0.

Katey Pierce (0-5) started in the circle for DePaul (6-18, 2-3 BIG EAST), going 3.0 innings and giving up eight hits and four runs. Freshman Lydia Ettema pitching 3.0 innings of relief, allowing two runs on four hits with two strikeouts. Carly Alvers led the offensive efforts for the Blue Demons, reaching base twice with a walk and a single.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UConn (12-11, 2-0 BIG EAST) took an early lead in the first inning, 1-0, before scoring three runs off of four hits in the third to go up 4-0. Brooke Johnson earned a walk in the fourth while Riley Pool followed up with a single, but both were left stranded.

UConn used a pair of singles and an error to extend their lead in the fourth inning, 6-0, and never look back.

UP NEXT
The Blue Demons and Huskies will meet in the series finale on Sunday. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. CT with coverage on FloSoftball.
