Blue Demons drop game on Thursday
CHICAGO - DePaul softball fell to St. John's, 8-0 in five innings, Thursday afternoon.
Sophomore Bella Nigey earned the start in the circle, surrendering six runs on five hits. Brenna Smith came in for relief, going 4.1 innings with three hits, two runs and two strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
St. John's (17-16, 6-6 BIG EAST) got out to an early 6-0 lead behind six hits in the first inning. The Red Storm added a run in both the third and the fifth innings to make it 8-0.
DePaul (7-21, 2-5 BIG EAST) threatened in the bottom of the fifth, getting Brooke Johnson aboard after a walk but the team was unable to bring her home.

DePaul will be back in action on Friday, March 29. First pitch from Cacciatore Stadium is set for 1 p.m. CT with coverage on Marquee and FloSoftball.
