Blue Demons drop game two of the series
CHICAGO - DePaul softball fell in a matchup with St. John's on Friday afternoon, 4-0.
Junior third baseman Carly Alvers recorded two hits for DePaul (7-21, 2-5 BIG EAST), marking her fifth multi-hit game of the season and second of the week.
Freshman Lydia Ettema appeared in a pinch-hitting situation during the seventh inning, recording her first career hit with a single to right field.
Junior Katey Pierce earned the start in the circle. Pierce (0-7) went 6.2 innings while giving up eight hits and four runs. Graduate student Brenna Smith came in for relief, recording the final out for the DePaul defense.
HOW IT HAPPENED
St. John's (18-16, 7-6 BIG EAST) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning off of a string of hits.
The Blue Demons got their first two batters aboard in the seventh, as Lexi Houge earned a walk and Brooke Johnson knocked a single to center field, but were unable to plate any runs.
The Red Storm added three runs in the top of the seventh to extend the lead, 4-0.

The Blue Demons and Red Storm are set for the series finale on Saturday. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. CT with coverage on FloSoftball.
