Blue Demons Head to Omaha for Weekend Matchup

OMAHA, NEB. - DePaul softball hits the road for the penultimate series of the season as the team heads to Omaha to take on Creighton, April 26-28. Friday's game will begin at 3 p.m. with Saturday starting at 12 p.m. The series finale will be at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

BLUE DEMON BITS

Brooke Johnson leads the DePaul offense with a .372 batting average and 23 RBIs. The fifth year senior tallied her 36th career home run against Illinois on April 23, putting her fourth all-time in program history and one away from tying for third. Johnson ranks third in the BIG EAST with 10 home runs and second in the league in on-base percentage (.474).
Riley Pool is having the best season of her career, tallying a .314 batting average with 33 hits and 18 RBIs. Pool is third in the league in sacrifice flies (four) and fifth in caught stealing by (nine).
Graduate student Brenna Smith paces the Blue Demons in the circle. Smith has a staff-best ERA of 3.25 through 79.2 innings pitched. Smith has appeared in 25 games and recorded 43 strikeouts.

ABOUT CREIGHTON

Creighton enters the series with a record of 28-19 (11-7 BIG EAST).
Madeline Vejvoda and Cayla Nielsen lead the Bluejays offense. Vejvoda owns a .348 batting average with 27 RBIs and 48 hits. Nielsen has a team-best .478 slugging percentage with 54 hits.
In the circle, Natalia Puchino paces the team with a 1.90 ERA. Puchino has started 19 games and given up 91 hits and 46 runs while striking out 135.
Krista Wood is in her second year leading the Bluejays.

SERIES STUFF
DePaul leads the all-time series, 23-12. DePaul won the last meeting between teams, 6-4, on April 8, 2023 in Chicago.
